With Singapore entering a circuit breaker period, there’s no way you can call for your go-to home interior designer in Singapore.

But, when you’re staying more at home, there are at least ways and more time to do a little touch-up to make your home look more luxurious—some can even be done using a few changes in your layout or with the items that are already in your home.

Here are some interior design and renovation tips to upgrade your Singapore home.

1. Layer Lighting

Add a variety of light sources to add depth to your home: pendant lights, wall lamps, and table lamps—you can place some candles in containers too. This is quite an affordable way to update your interior design and make it feel expensive.

2. Bring Out the Textiles

Instead of buying pillows, hit up your local fabric store and shop for beautiful scraps and some feather inserts for a discount. You can sew the pillows yourself or hire a tailor to do it and see how much you can save!

3. Use Draperies that Hit the Floor

As a cardinal rule, don’t ever, ever buy draperies that are too short. They look cheap and, of course, store-bought. Instead, invest in a good window treatment that touches the floor. It adds height to the room and makes it look luxurious too.

4. Don’t Forget a Large-Scale Art

It doesn’t have to be a masterpiece that costs thousands of dollars. Just an oversized, attention-grabbing piece of art that can inspire conversations and fill the room with an instant luxe feel.

5. Finish with Texture

Aside from the pillows, you can mix up your textiles with some faux fur blankets, area rug, and maybe some chunky knits that would complement your metallic accent pieces or maybe your reclaimed wood coffee table.
