One of my feet suffered from a bad bunion that I thought needed surgery in Singapore. Apart from its awkward appearance, it started to hurt so much when I was wearing shoes.
This pain lasted until my supervisor saw me limping when I went to the office last year. As far as I could remember, it was around the circuit breaker. Probably, two weeks before lockdown.
Back then, she asked me what happened. Did I get injured on the way to work or during the weekend? But all I could say was that I do not know. The moment I put my shoes on, there was a tingling sensation that pricks on my feet. Then she told me that I should see an orthopaedic doctor in Singapore. Since they specialised in foot problems, they might have an idea of what this was all about and how to relieve it.
So I did what she asked and went to the orthopaedic clinic in Singapore that she recommended. She even shared with me a story about how she sprained her ankle, and the specialist there took good care of her feet. Because of that heartfelt story, I decided to go and get my feet checked.
But since I rarely get sick, I am nervous to see a doctor, let alone a specialist. That is probably the reason why I messed up my first visit. Not only did I forget to bring my healthcare card with me, but I also went there late while catching up on my breathing. In other words, it was a disaster.
Luckily, they did not mind my messed up appearance and told me I could bring my healthcare card to my follow-up consultation. Anyway, going there was great. The orthopaedic doctor there helps me a lot. They let me know what to do and how to avoid getting a bunion and other foot problems.
My Hunch Was Right, But I Did Not Do Anything.
I had a hunch that I have a bunion, but I never really pushed that thought since who wants to agree they are sick, right? That was the case for me, which was why I did not bother to search for my symptoms online. What I usually do to relieve the pain is to pack an ice pack on the bulging bump. Whenever I do this trick, I feel a lot better. The swelling and redness subside even for a short while.
How I Managed My Bunion
Things have gotten better ever since I went to the orthopaedic clinic in Singapore. Not only am I free worrying about needing bunion surgery, the doctor even told me the ways on how to relieve the pain. That was why I am glad I followed my manager and sought an orthopaedic doctor for my bunion.
I think if I have not done that, I might still be suffering from pain right now. Even though I am currently working from home due to the pandemic, I still have to wear shoes. The only good thing right now is that I do not have to walk far or run to the office to be there on time.
Anyway, here are the things I did to manage my bunion.
LOSE WEIGHT.
The orthopaedic doctor told me that my weight put too much pressure on my feet. That was why my bunion hurt so much whenever I stood for hours.
USE A GEL-FILLED PAD.
Besides losing weight, I use a gel-filled pad for all of my shoes. Doing so makes the pain go away whenever I put my shoes on.
APPLY NON-STEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY.
To further relieve me from pain, I always apply a cream to my bunion. The orthopaedic doctor in Singapore told me an over-the-counter drug like ibuprofen would do, and it does. It works so much I barely felt any pain or discomfort at all.
Recommending Specialist Orthopaedic Centre.
We all know how important our feet are, which is why when you feel a tingling sensation pricking them, see an ankle or whatever specialist in Singapore. Try not to be like me, who neglected her feet and suffered.
Note that your situation might not be the same as mine. The doctor from that clinic in Singapore said that orthopaedic surgery is necessary in most cases. But I was lucky enough not to have one.
The bulging bump around my toe was not as severe as his other patients. He even told me that I did a great job—putting an ice pack is one of the ways to relieve and reduce the swelling. But such things happen to others—the situation might be different.
Nevertheless, I highly recommend this orthopaedic clinic in Singapore. If you notice any foot problems, make sure to drop by and get yourself checked.
