Our company sells cameras and I am proud to say that we are recognised worldwide. So, when one of the bosses had asked me to become the project manager to organise the opening ceremony for our new product in Singapore, I knew it had to be successful. Here is how I did it.
Living in Japan my whole life I did not expect that I would fly out to Singapore for this project. But, everything should be prepared before I go there, therefore, I had to find a company that would make this launch into a groundbreaking ceremony. I started my research 5 months before the day of the launch and it took me at least 2 hours to find one. This company that I had found also handles big clients that it was enough for me to give them my trust. So, after scrolling on their website, I decided to contact them.
I knew calling them would be easier, so I had asked permission for my boss to use an international line which he agreed to. When a representative answered, I immediately told her my proposal. She was very accommodating and asked the right questions, thus our conversation was direct and did not waste any of the time. Later that day, I received an email that had confirmed my need for their service. This was the start of the whole project planning.
The project manager assigned to coordinate with me was very meticulous which impressed me. She had asked me all the details about the event that they need to know. I fully divulged all the information of the camera so she can appropriate all the designs to it. This is only done under a non-disclosure agreement. She then proceeded to tell me about budget development and management, catering and menu management, security arrangements, event staffing, among many others. Suffice to say that the 5 months was enough to fully cover all that was needed to prepare.
Corporate events like this require us to come early so I flew out to Singapore a week before the ceremony. In our timeline, this is the time for final touches and finishes. We did not waste any time which I had expected from this kind of service. Finally, the day of the event arrived and it was elegant! The details of the venue are obviously well-thought because they deliberately made the venue a piece of the 90s. This was appropriate because of our newly refurbished film cameras. I was fascinated with how everything turned out and seeing the reaction of my boss capped it off. I could not be more satisfied with how this event was handled.
