Mosquitoes can carry a whole set of surprise diseases that are never welcome. The fact that they can be found all over your home as well clearly sets the level of health risks to the max. But, there are still ways on how to repel them and eventually keep them out of your home and therefore keep your family safe.


Make a DIY Insect Spray

This is almost, an all natural insect spray that can repel mosquitoes as well a whole range of different insects like for example, flies. Chop one small onion and one head of garlic,  mix them all up together with four cups of water. Add in four teaspoons of cayenne pepper, and one tablespoon of liquid dish soap. With these all mixed up together, start spraying around your house and in all of the places where your children usually play. Keep it in a dark cool place afterwards.


DIY Bug Spray Version 2

You can also actually create a bug spray that's much like those chemical based ones you can buy on stores. Mix a quarter cup of apple cider vinegar, 1/4 cup of witch hazel, and around 20 drops of a combination of these essential oils: rosemary, citronella, tea tree, cedar, eucalyptus, or lemongrass. Place it all to a spray bottle, and always shake before each use. This one can be sprayed directly to your skin and help repel all the insects most especially mosquitoes.


The Lemon Eucalyptus Technique

If you are out grocery shopping for a natural mosquito repellents, try to look for one that contains oil of lemon eucalyptus. This is actually extremely effective and provides long-lasting protection.


Using Peppermint

If you are looking for another effective, but completely natural way to fight against mosquitoes? Try using peppermint. Start by combining a few drops of peppermint essential oil together with one cup of water in a spray bottle, shake completely and spray onto you skin. The good part of this technique is that, not only will the peppermint help repel the blood-sucking insects, but you will also end up smelling minty.


Using Rosemary and Sage

If you ever find mosquitoes that keep hovering over the grill whenever you and your family cook on your barbecue, just place a few springs of rosemary or sage on top of the coals. These will repel mosquitoes, leaving your food and your family in peace.


Re-using Old Egg Cartons and Coffee Trays

Mosquitoes will all usually all come out during the summer time, but this time, you don’t have to buy any citronella candles, mosquito coils, or any expensive gadget you see out there today. You can just use cardboard egg cartons and coffee trays. Set them on fire, then blow them out to let them smolder. All should be done in a fire-safe location of course. The burning smell they produce is pleasant, but keeps mosquitoes away.
