While owning a car seems like fun, there’s a lot of things you need to consider, including vehicle maintenance. It’s a privilege to own a vehicle, but it’s even more of a responsibility to take care of it. If it’s your first-time car owner, you should know that maintaining your vehicle can be challenging, especially if you’re a truck driver.

I’ve been driving a truck for nearly a decade, and I can say that life on the road as a truck driver is sometimes hard. Driving a monstrous size of a vehicle is a challenge itself, but it’s even harder to take care of your truck. That’s why I bought a lot of truck spare parts for my Nissan.

At first, you might think that stocking up on spare parts for your vehicle seems easy to do. You’ll visit an auto parts supplier, find what your car needs, and go home with a bag full of spare parts. However, there are many things you need to consider when you’re in the market for brand new spare parts.

Here are some of the things I considered before I purchased new Nissan truck spare parts.

1. THE SELLER

First on the list of things to consider is the seller. Before I made my decision to buy from my supplier, I researched online to see if there are comparable prices. Also, you have to consider the reliability of your seller as well. Are they a certified distributor of spare parts? Do they sell genuine automotive parts? These are just some of the questions you should find out for yourself to certify the seller’s credibility.

2. PRICING

When you’re on the lookout for quality truck parts for your Volvo, Nissan, or Renault, try to examine the prices first. There’s a wide range of auto parts in Singapore, and most of the time the rates of these products will differ, depending on their brand and quality.

If you’re on a tight budget, you’ll need to be extra careful. Try to do what I did and inspect the prices before making a purchase. That way, you could go online and research available parts for lower prices. You could save a lot of money in the process! All it takes is determination, plus a keen eye for details, which in this case are the prices of spare parts.

3. RETURN POLICIES

When I was window shopping for auto parts online, something caught my eye. It was a brake drum that’s suitable for the model of my truck. I was excited to buy it and replace my faulty brake drum, but I realised out of the blue that it might not fit my vehicle’s brakes. So I contacted the supplier and inquired about return policies. Fortunately, they offer return policies if the spare parts are defective or won’t fit your vehicle.

Guess what happened next? To my surprise, the brake drums didn’t fit the truck’s brakes. But thanks to my instincts, I was able to communicate with the supplier ahead of time. As a result, I got a refund and returned the product to its seller. It was a quick and convenient process that didn’t take too much of my time.

4. USED OR BRAND NEW?

There are two options when it comes to shopping for spare parts: used or brand new. Sure, you probably think that buying used truck parts is a recipe for disaster, but that’s not the case. As a matter of fact, I bought a few truck spare parts for my Nissan, and I have yet to encounter any issues with them.

Buying used auto parts is alright, but you need to be careful with who or where you’re buying from. When I bought a set of used Nissan truck spare parts, I researched the seller first to see if they’re selling legitimate products. I even contacted them to find out how long these second-hand parts were used.

The good thing is that these spare parts we’re all taken care of by the previous owners. Not to mention, most automobile components are built to last years, perhaps even decades, of long-term use. That’s why if you have a limited budget, consider buying used spare parts. As long as the seller is legitimate, then you have nothing to worry about.

Stocking up on spare parts for your truck is a must. Without the right components for your vehicle, you and your truck are at risk while you’re out on the road. That’s why I always keep a handful of spare parts by my side whenever I’m taking my truck for a spin.
